Statement on Coronavirus from the RGA Medical Board

During the coronavirus (COVID‑19) pandemic, it’s vital that we all do our best to protect our own health and the health of others. Please follow the latest government guidance carefully.
This includes:
washing your hands regularly
staying at home as much as possible
only going out for essential shopping, medical reasons, or essential work that cannot be done from home
going out for exercise once a day, within the rules
Sticking to this guidance helps reduce the length and severity of the pandemic.
Many RGA members have asked whether being of restricted growth puts them at higher risk from coronavirus. If you are in a very high‑risk group, you should already have been contacted by the government or your GP.
Some of our members have breathing or other health problems that may increase their risk. If you are worried about this:
please speak to your GP or the doctor who usually looks after you first – they know you and your medical history best
if they have particular concerns, they can contact us at medical@restrictedgrowth.co.uk
You can also email us on that address, but please be aware that we are currently working in our own hospitals and it may take us some time to reply. If your question is urgent, contact your doctor or call NHS 111 for initial advice. Please also let us know by email what is happening, so we can understand how COVID‑19 is affecting our community.
Most importantly, please look after yourselves and those around you. We will get through this, and we will do that best by caring for one another in the weeks and months ahead.
